Alex McLeish Exclusive: Allan McGregor will sign new Rangers contract
We’re delighted to welcome former Rangers manager Alex McLeish as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…
Alex McLeish has insisted it is a “certainty” that Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor will sign a new contract at Ibrox for next season.
The Scottish veteran has months remaining on his current deal, and there have been major calls for the Bears to act quickly to secure him.
McLeish believes that McGregor has been brilliant in all competitions this season after fighting off competition from Jon McLaughlin.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, McLeish said, “That’s a factor also.
“Because the young guys will be looking up to Greegsy, and with McGregor, I think it’s a certainty that he’s still going to be a Rangers player in the future.
“Brilliant performances this season and credit to the team.”
No brainer.
Ranger simply have to make sure that they secure the future of McGregor, who is performing out his skin and easily the best around.
Gerrard always needs someone to rely on at the back when his side are so free-flowing moving forward, and these recent saves have been unbelievable.
The ability to keep the ball out of the net against Slavia Praha was out of this world, and the perfect example he still has what it takes.
The Bears are in discussions, and we expect McLeish’s admission to become true sooner rather than later, with McGregor signing on the dotted line.
This title success has been built on numerous different factors, but the experience of McGregor and company cannot be underestimated as Celtic continue to crumble.
This is the perfect reward.
