Ibrox View: Dalglish praise for Rangers ace McGregor will silence bitter Sutton

Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor has been the talk of the town since the 1-1 draw against Slavia Praha in the Europa League on Thursday.

The veteran stopper made sure of the draw with an incredible last-gasp save to send the Bears back to Ibrox as strong favourites.

Chris Sutton labelled the praise for the stopper as “embarrassing” this week, as some claimed it was one of the best saves they had ever seen.

Sir Kenny Dalglish agreed with that praise in his Sunday Post column recently, claiming it was in the same breath as Gordon Banks against Pele.

“Allan McGregor then pulled off an incredible save from Ondrej Kudela’s downward header in the closing minutes to deny the Czechs a winning goal,” he said.

“The save was truly extraordinary and has already been mentioned in the same breath as the one Gordon Banks made to deny Pele in the 1970 World Cup Finals.”

Bitter Sutton Silenced.

Once again, Sutton couldn’t help himself when talking on BT Sports about McGregor, claiming the praise was getting embarrassing.

The only thing embarrassing about it was how the likes of Sutton and Robbie Savage couldn’t admit the brilliance of McGregor once again this season.

Dalglish showering the keeper in praise is the right way to go about things, you have to recognise when someone has pulled off something incredible, no matter what your connections are.

Celtic have collapsed this season, and it appears as though their failures are becoming too much to handle for the likes of Sutton, who needs to take a leaf out of Dalglish’s book.
