James Tavernier sends message to Rangers fans ahead of ‘huge’ week ahead
James Tavernier has delivered a message to Rangers fans ahead of another huge week for the Scottish Premiership champions.
The Bears first entertain Slavia Praha in the second-leg of their Europa League tie before travelling to Parkhead for the Old Firm against Celtic.
Nicola Sturgeon and most of the government has taken aim at the club this week, as fans gathered to celebrate title 55, something Tavernier has urged them not to do.
Speaking to the fans from the official Bears Twitter account on Saturday, Tavernier has urged the fans to remain at home in this huge week.
“I want to send a message for all Rangers fans,” he said.
“Thank you for your support over the last week, we have another huge week ahead, a second leg on Thursday, then the Old Firm on Parkhead on Sunday.
“As captain of Rangers, it’s a huge honour and privilege to represent the best fans in the world, I want to highlight how important it is for you to stay at home next weekend.
“Please don’t gather in crowds, especially near the stadiums or the city centre. We want nothing more than to have you with us next Sunday, but we know you are right behind us.”
Over to you, Sturgeon.
The government has battered Rangers this week, with the majority of them claiming that the Bears didn’t do enough to stop the crowds from gathering.
Steven Gerrard claimed that discussions had been held beforehand to stop it and that the authorities knew what was going to happen.
It was clear that celebrations were going to take place, it has happened all over, just look at Liverpool after they won the Premier League last season.
Both Celtic and the Gers have made it clear that discussions have taken place, with the Old Firm clubs releasing statements to confirm the updates.
It is down to the government and authorities now, the clubs have done all they can.
