Not at the races
Let’s face it, we expected this.
After seeing how some of the players celebrated the title win, you can see why some of them are looking sloppy and lethargic.
Aribo’s had a few matches like this in recent weeks though with the Nigeria international seeming to struggle when playing in a deeper-lying central midfield role.
He flourishes in the attack, usually playing behind a striker or slightly out wide.
But we’ve conceded a lot of goals lately due to Aribo being uncomfortable in the middle of the park. He simply doesn’t have the defensive nous required to shine there.
We’re not saying he’s a bad player, nor are we slamming Steven Gerrard for playing Aribo there but it’s just one of the fall-backs to Rangers’ style of play because they use the Nigerian more in attack than in defence.
Let’s see how he gets on after the break. Helander’s goal got us level and is something to build on.
