Rangers target Baah back on the market as Man City deal collapses
Rochdale winger Kwadwo Baah is “back on the market” after a move to Manchester City collapsed and that is huge news for Rangers.
According to The Telegraph, the 18-year-old winger had agreed terms to join Man City with his contract due to expire at the end of the season. However, the deal has hit the skids at the medical stage but is still likely to exit Rochdale in the summer.
In January, The Athletic reported that Rangers were one of many clubs who were interested in signing the Germany-born youngster. West Ham, Bayern Munich and Juventus were also said to be keen.
New hope for Light Blues
Baah sounds like the kind of player Rangers should be signing up.
Telegraph journalist Mike McGrath claims the Stuttgart-born ace “has been earmarked as having potential to play in the Premier League” amid an impressive season in League One with Rochdale.
He’s made 22 appearances in England’s third-tier this season, scoring three goals in the process and supplying two assists.
Baah scored an absolute stunner in a 4-4 draw with Charlton earlier this year and has the ability to play as a centre-forward as well as on the left-wing, which is where he’s been seen more often.
It would not hurt Rangers to beef up their attacking options, especially out wide, in the summer transfer window.
It remains to be seen whether or not Jordan Jones still has a future at Ibrox due to his COVID breach and lack of form in Glasgow since joining from Kilmarnock.
Ianis Hagi and Joe Aribo have been played out wide most of this season and both of them would rather play more central roles in behind a striker.
Ryan Kent is the only out-and-out winger who’s starting every week and while Baah is mainly left-sided like Kent, he can also play on the right.
We believe Baah can add some good strength in depth up top for Rangers and, with a little bit of development, can become a first-team regular.
His contract at Rochdale expires in the summer so he’s open to be approached on a pre-contract deal from the Premiership champions.
