Celtic embarrass themselves with Old Firm response to Rangers

Celtic might claim they are not half of the Old Firm to their fans but their actions behind-the-scenes suggests otherwise.

On Tuesday night, the struggling Premiership outfit distanced themselves from Old Firm rivals Rangers with a response to the champions’ letter to Nicola Sturgeon about fans’ behaviour.

Rangers fans gathered at Ibrox and across Glasgow at the weekend to celebrate their team’s 55th title while Celtic fans amassed at Parkhead earlier in the season amid a terrible run of results to call for the heads of Neil Lennon and the board.

Rangers

Rangers have faced a lot of scrutiny for their fans’ celebrations over the weekend, leading to chairman Douglas Park defending the club in a letter to First Minister Sturgeon.

In that letter, Park referenced “behaviour from the other half of the Old Firm outside Parkhead in December.”

Celtic hit back at that claim on Twitter, saying: “We’re not half of anything… Not our problem.”

Celtic fans refuse to admit the Old Firm still exists and it seems their social media team love to endear themselves towards supporters by fueling that ridiculous theory.

But those behind-the-scenes at Celtic Park clearly feel different, as seen on the Government’s official website.

Earlier this month, Celtic and Rangers both renewed their ownership of the ‘Old Firm’ trademark.

As you can see in the screenshots below, Celtic and Rangers both own the Old Firm trademark and the trademark was renewed eight days ago.

On one hand, Celtic will feed their fans whatever they must to ensure they show they’re on their side but on another, they’re hiding away what the truth actually is.

How can the second-placed Premiership club pretend the Old Firm is no more when that so blatantly isn’t the case?

Why not surrender the entire trademark to Rangers? Why renew it? Why post an utterly embarrassing tweet that has been completely dismantled by none other than themselves.

In other Rangers news, the Gers have been handed a major boost over their hunt to sign this German-born attacker.
