Slavia Prague captain blasts teammates’ weekend performance ahead of Rangers clash

Jan Broil, captain of Slavia Prague has ripped into his teammates after their weekend game just days before facing Rangers in the Europa League.

Slavia beat Banik 2-1 in the Czech first division this weekend but the second-half performance of the league leaders was unacceptable to Boril.

The captain ripped into his teammates with his post-match comments and admitted the second-half performance was a warning ahead of a big game in Europe.

Boril is quoted by Czech outlet iDNES as saying, “The first half was excellent, we dominated, but the second? As if we were completely out of concentration.

“In the second half we did not play as a team at all, everyone wanted to score a goal, I did not like that.

“It almost punished us, so I have mixed feelings. For God’s sake, we managed it, three points are at home, but the other half is a big warning.”

It is easy to forget we have a massive Europa League clash this week after securing the title at the weekend.

Rangers

This discontent in the Slavia camp can only be good news and it bears a stark contrast to the jubilant feeling inside the Rangers squad at the moment.

We will travel to the Czech Republic on the back of a league win and another excellent performance at Ibrox.

Slavia will also go in on the back of a win but also a performance that is being slammed by a leader in the dressing room.

This can only be good news for Rangers and the lack of concentration Boril alludes to should have the Gers attackers licking their lips ahead of Thursday’s tie.

Another big win in Europe would keep the party mood alive for Rangers fans and belief will start to grow over our chances of making the last eight.

In other Rangers news, Jamie Carragher has dropped a hint about Gerrard’s Ibrox future.
