The Rangers players got to celebrate no.55 over the weekend after they beat St Mirren 3-0 and Celtic could only draw 0-0 with Dundee United.
It means Rangers go to Parkhead for their next match as champions and it sparked wild celebrations among fans and player at Ibrox.
Kris Boyd was on Sky Sports this morning (The Football Show, Monday, 10am) and as the broadcaster played footage of the players celebrating, he picked out Alfredo Morelos for special mention.
“The star players have performed consistently over a period of time and that’s exactly what you need to win the title,” Boyd said.
“You look at the players there celebrating, they’re enjoying, it, especially Alfredo Morelos there in the middle,” Boyd added laughing.
“He’s come in for a lot of stick but he’s had the last laugh and his performances recently have been excellent.”
Morelos has tested the Gers fans at times over his time in Scotland but he really turned a corner this season and pushed on massively.
Morelos has always been a striker capable of delivering massive returns. But, this season, he’s curbed the worst side of his temperament and added a new dimension to his game.
He’s been targeted by opposition fans, pundits and referees, most recently when he was booked for diving when he should have had a clearcut penalty.
Despite this agenda, Morelos has been a standout performer again and he’ll go down in the club as a huge part of our recent return to dominance.
Now, the players have to try and re-focus and go again for the Europa League.
That won’t be easy after such an outpouring of joy and relief, but if anyone can get the players focused, it’s Gerrard.
