We’re delighted to welcome former Rangers manager Alex McLeish as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…
Alex McLeish has predicted that Rangers will cruise past St. Mirren at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon, backing them to win 3-0.
The Bears go into this one knowing they could seal the Scottish Premiership title with three points but will be reliant on Celtic crumbling on Sunday.
McLeish believes that if the Light Blues start quickly at Ibrox, St. Mirren simply won’t be able to handle them, no matter if they are the only side to beat them this season.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, McLeish said, “I think Rangers will be smarting a bit.
“They lost to St. Mirren, don’t forget. They have shown some great progress in terms of their results, so Rangers won’t take it lightly.
“They are at Ibrox, and regardless of the crowds you’ve seen how they handle those games, outstanding and I don’t see a hiccup.
“They are a tough nut to crack, and they could try and frustrate Rangers, but if they get a quick start and they play to a great tempo at the beginning, and they get that opener then the game changes, I’d say 3-0.”
With a big week ahead of us, it is critical to get off to the best start.
St. Mirren will be confident knowing they are the only side to beat the Gers this season, but it would take something special to recreate that at Ibrox.
Steven Gerrard only needs four points to bring the title back to the Gers for the first time in 10 years, and they could seal it this weekend in style.
With two legs against Slavia Praha after this, let’s start this week right and wrap up the title before that Old Firm clash in two weeks.
