Graeme Souness says it is a great time to be a Rangers fan and praised Steven Gerrard being on the verge of winning the title.
Number 55 could head to Ibrox this weekend and both Souness and Jim White displayed their delight on talkSPORT.
Souness was typically grumpy when debating with Martin Keown but his mood transformed when White switched subjects to Rangers, suggesting they are within touching distance of the title.
“Yes well, Steven’s done a great job he really has. It’s just for all the reasons you know what I’m on about, number ten I don’t want to talk about that,” said Souness on talkSPORT [Jim White & Martin Keown show].
“They’ve had a great season and long may it continue. Supporters have been a long time waiting for this.
“This is a great time to be a Glasgow Rangers supporter again.”
There’s only one Steven Gerrard
Souness has hit the nail on the head.
Rangers fans have been waiting far too long to get back to glory and we could not be more proud of Gerrard for the job he’s done
He has handled the past three years with impeccable professionalism – Wednesday night aside – and overcome big hurdles to establish us as Scotland’s number one club.
The fact he has combined domestic success with joy in Europe means he deserves endless praise.
Now we are back on our feet once and for all we are in a position to lay down the gaunlet.
Managerless Celtic are in a bit of a transition period so we could very easily go on a title winning run of our own.
We still have the current season to complete first, of course, and we are eager to see how far we get to in the Europa League.
It is a shame fans will not be at Ibrox on Saturday as it could be our final home game before the title comes to its rightly place.
In other Rangers news, Alex Mcleish told us exclusively that he predicts a big future for an emerging Gers talent.
