Jim White is clearly getting excited about Rangers confirming themselves as Scottish champions as they moved within four points of claiming their 55th title on Wednesday night.

In a night that was blemished by a ridiculous piece of refereeing by John Beaton and a red card for manager Steven Gerrard, Alfredo Morelos stood up above all others to score a late winner as the Gers won 1-0 at Livingston.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT host White took to his personal Twitter account to instantly react to the result after the match.

“Touching distance now for Rangers,” said the Gers-mad broadcaster.

Number 55 incoming

What a night.

Most of the headlines are going to be dominated by Beaton booking Morelos for diving when he was fouled and Steven Gerrard’s red card for his reaction to the incident.

But really, Wednesday night at Almondvale should be remembered for a colossal win as the Gers close in on their 55th Scottish title.

Morelos brushed off the first-half incident to score a late winner, which was more than deserved.

We’re now just four points away from the title being confirmed so we could win it as soon as this weekend if results go our way.

Rangers play St Mirren at 3pm on Saturday. Celtic play Dundee United on Sunday at 12pm.

If we win and Celtic drop points, we’re champions.

We’d rather win it on the park, which means waiting to play at Parkhead later this month.

And let’s face it, that would be the perfect place to seal it.

In other Rangers news, here’s what Stevie G said to John Beaton ahead of his sending off.
