Gerrard hails unsung hero for helping Morelos discover best Rangers form

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has credited Alfredo Morelos’ wife with helping him turn his fortunes around this season.

Morelos struggled for form at the start of the season but in his last few games he has been untouchable in the heart of the Gers’ attack.

Gerrard has hailed a number of factors that have contributed to this turnaround including the Colombian’s home life.

Gerrard is quoted by The Scottish Sun as saying, “I’ve put a lot of time and effort into this kid and it made me proud seeing that moment [kicking the ball out v Antwerp] on Thursday night. It’s a sign of maturity in there.

“I think his family life has really helped that, being at home with his wife.

“So there are people around Alfredo who have played a major role in trying to help him grow and become a better person and player.”

You can tell that Gerrard really wants Morelos to succeed and it must be brilliant for him to see El Bufalo back amongst the goals at the moment.

In the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t really matter who sorted out Morelos’ form, whether it was Gerrard, his wife or something else.

What matters is the Morelos of old has returned and the challenge now is making sure he stays around for the rest of the season.

If we are going to be successful in Europe we need our Colombian hitman to be firing on all cylinders.

This support network that seems to be around Morelos is working to get him back to his best but it is his duty to stay there.

Without wanting to sound too negative, we are just one rash decision like an elbow to the face or a stamp away from being back to square one with our star man sidelined.

This has to be the next barrier for Morelos to overcome, keep your form and keep your head.

We love him as much as Gerrard does and we know everyone around him wants Morelos to do well, here’s hoping he can maintain this form for the rest of the season.
