Ofoborh looking like a Rangers transfer error after shocking EFL performances

Rangers may have made a mistake in signing Nnamdi Ofoborh with the midfielder failing to impress while on loan at Wycombe Wanderers.

The club confirmed the signing of the 21-year-old from Bournemouth on a pre-contract agreement shortly after the January transfer window closed.

Following this deal, he was sent on loan to Wycombe, a side he spent time at last season as he looks to impress before his summer move to Ibrox.

Unfortunately, Ofoborh hasn’t come close to impressing since rejoining his former side.

Some of his performances look so bad on paper that it is fair to wonder if we have made a huge mistake in signing him.

Ofobroh has made four Championship appearances since his switch to the Chair Boys and after three uninspiring starts, he was dropped to the bench.

In these four outings, only 43.2% of Ofoborh’s total actions have been successful, as per Wyscout.

We accept that Wycombe aren’t having a good season but that is a shocking statistic that should have Steven Gerrard concerned.

His general stats follow this trend as well as only 59% of his attempted passes have found their mark so far.

When you have players like Glen Kamara who are registering a passing accuracy of 92.3% this season you can’t help but feel Ofoborh might not be up to the task of playing for Rangers.

Unfortunately, the poor stats continue with Ofoborh also not impressing with his defensive duties.

The 21-year-old has only won 25% of his aerial duels, as per Wyscout, and only 44.8% of his total duels.

He also fails to effectively carry the ball as his dribble success rate is only 46.2% which, again, is disappointing.

As a holding midfielder, this simply isn’t acceptable and we will need to see considerable improvement here if Ofoborh is to be a success at Ibrox.

The only stat in which he impresses is in his outright defensive duels, of which Ofoborh has won 70% which isn’t too shabby.

We need to see huge improvements in the next few months because we are yet to see any proof that Ofoborh can be a Rangers success.

We appreciate he is still a young man with a lot to learn but it would be encouraging to see something that excites us before the end of the season.
