Rangers finished a thrilling, high-scoring Europa League tie by smashing Antwerp 5-2 at Ibrox.

That left the score an incredible 9-5 on aggregate and Rangers fans are already looking forward to seeing who they’re playing in the Round of 16 this afternoon.

The only worry will have been conceding five but scoring nine goals at this stage in Europe is seriously impressive.

Many Gers players stood out last night, not least Alfredo Morelos, but not everyone hit the same heights.

In the absence of James Tavernier, Leon Balogun was used at right-back on Thursday night and he looked out of place. That’s maybe not so surprising seeing as he’s a centre-back by trade.

He picked up a booking in the first half and some fans thought he was destined for a red as he was getting “ripped to shreds”.

Some called for him to go off at half-time, and that ended up happening, with Nathan Patterson getting an unlikely rapid return to action after his Covid breach.

That turned into an absolutely inspired substitution, with the much-criticised Patterson coming on and scoring with his first touch of the ball.

That gave Rangers some breathing room and while Antwerp kept punching back, they couldn’t overcome an irresistible Gers side

Balogun was criticised heavily but let’s not forget he was playing out of position and possibly with a slight knock.

Here are the best reactions to Balogun’s display last night…
