Many Rangers fans have mixed feelings over the inclusion of Bongani Zungu, Nathan Patterson and Calvin Bassey in tonight’s squad to face Royal Antwerp.

The three players broke COVID regulations two weeks ago to attend a party and it was expected that they would be omitted from future line ups as punishment.

However, all three have returned to the bench for tonight’s Europa League game with no ban announced by Rangers or the Scottish FA.

There is a contrast between the treatment of these players and the treatment of Jordan Jones and George Edmundson who ended up in hot water for a similar offence.

They were handed seven-game bans by the SFA earlier this season and are now out on loan at Sunderland and Derby respectively.

Considering the treatment of Jones and Edmundson, it is very surprising to see the more recent rule-breakers back in the squad.

They all issued apologies yesterday but some Gers fans still aren’t happy about their inclusion tonight.

Rangers

Some Rangers fans are pleased to see the players back, especially Patterson as with James Tavernier injured we are short of right-back options.

Others have blasted Steven Gerrard and the club for their weak stance after the treatment of Jones and Edmundson.

It will be interesting to see if any of the three make it onto the pitch tonight as Rangers look to secure European progression.

Here is how Rangers fans reacted the inclusion of Patterson, Zungu and Bassey.

In other Rangers news, Joe Aribo has been blown away by these two Gers players in training.
