The SPFL has named Joe Aribo as their Star Man in their latest Team of the Week and Rangers fans are absolutely thrilled.

Rangers took another step closer to the title with a punchy 4-1 win against Dundee United, while Celtic lost to struggling Ross County.

Aribo got a brilliant 8.5 rating from WhoScored after another fantastic display in midfield but he wasn’t the highest-rated Gers player on the night.

Leon Balogun got an 8.6 while Alfredo Morelos got a mighty 9.1 to go with his goal.

The SPFL picked Aribo as their Star Man, though, and we’re not going to complain with that.

Aribo has been immense for us this season, with one supporter saying, “One of the best midfielders I’ve ever seen grace Ibrox in the last 40 years.”

That’s some shout.

Another fan called him “sensational” and said that at 24 years old he’s just about to come into his peak.

We got him on a free transfer from Charlton and it’s just one example of the incredible business that’s been done recently in the Gerrard era.

He’s under contract at Rangers until 2023 and he’s just one of the players that we’d like to see snapped up for a longer deal.

Big teams are going to be interested in Rangers players this summer – it’s part of the price you pay for success.

The way that Rangers are going to win the title this season means that all eyes will be on players like Aribo in the summer.

With Champions League football to look forward to, though, there’s plenty to keep everyone focused on an even bigger season next campaign.

In the meantime, here are the best reactions to the SPFL update…

In other Rangers news, a high-profile journalist was denied access to Ibrox on Sunday.
