We’re delighted to welcome former Rangers manager Alex McLeish as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…
Alex McLeish has insisted that Rangers duo Steven Davis and Ryan Jack have become undroppable this season at Ibrox.
The midfield pairing have cemented their spots, with Jack having recently come back from injury to take the place of the impressive Glen Kamara.
McLeish believes that every side has a “nucleus” of players who will always start, and the team will suffer when they aren’t on the pitch.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, McLeish named the duo who could be undroppable, “Yeah, it is the way of football.
“There is always a nucleus of guys there that produce every week, the know-how on the pitch, the likes of Steven Davis and Ryan Jack.
“It’s the same for any team, if you make a lot of changes then you don’t quite get the run you’ve been having with that same nucleus of players, but Steven has to utilise his squad.”
This is definitely the case.
We all saw what happened when both Jack and Davis were left on the bench against Hamilton last week, the Bears put in one of their worst performances of the season.
Both Davis and Jack offer control in midfield, and when they returned against Kilmarnock there was a massive sense of zero danger at Ibrox.
With the Europa League clash against Antwerp coming up, we expect both to start in midfield to guide the Bears through.
