“I don’t know what Goldon’s thinking about, he’s hammered it at Helander,” said Ferguson on Sportsound, as quoted on the BBC Sport website.
“Goldson is the one at fault, it’s madness to play a square ball like that across your own box.”
Bad day at the office all around
Hardly anyone who started at Hamilton on Sunday had a good game.
McGregor was on his toes brilliantly to stop Hamilton from scoring against a defence that should not have conceded as many chances as they did.
But in terms of outfield players, Goldson was as off the pace as anyone.
We don’t know whether it’s complacency or the team is running out of gas or whether it was the plastic pitch at Hamilton but either way, performances have been on the decline for several weeks now.
There’s absolutely no way that McGregor should be as busy against Hamilton as he was and Goldson and Helander need to really think about why that was the case.
We look a lot better after Steven Gerrard made substitutions in the second half because the quality of the midfield has a major impact on the efforts of the defence.
Ryan Jack and Steven Davis were so much better than the likes of Bongani Zungu and Glenn Kamara.
