‘Petrified’ – Chris Sutton blasts Rangers conduct in SPFL, claims officials are ‘scared’

Chris Sutton has claimed that officials are “scared” to hand out red cards to Rangers’ players in the Scottish Premiership.

The Bears are in the spotlight this week after both Alfredo Morelos and Kemar Roofe have been charged with violent conduct by the SFA.

Sutton believes that both were red card offences and that they should have been dealt with on the pitch rather than off it.

Speaking on BT Sports’ Scottish Football Extra, via the Daily Record, Sutton blasted the Bears for their conduct this season.

“For Rangers to get involved once again, the conduct of Rangers has been pretty poor,” he said.

“We know what they’re trying to do, put pressure on the authorities – trying to run the game. I said last week, Alfredo Morelos, the SFA and the referees are petrified of Morelos.

“The referees can’t make a decision, they’re scared to get the red card out.”

Rangers

The SFA have been nothing short of ridiculous this season, with the “consistency” of their charges being slammed by Steven Gerrard and others.

No one could argue about Morelos’ three-game ban, but handing Roofe a two-game ban for his challenge on Murray Davidson would be a joke.

The striker only had eyes for the ball, and even officials in the St Johnstone camp agreed with that after the clash on Wednesday.

Chris Brown’s elbow against Kilmarnock wasn’t a red card according to Sutton, you can imagine our shock as his Celtic-bias once again comes flooding out.

This is simply a diversion tactic from Sutton, who must be feeling terrible having to praise the Bears every single week.
