‘Very lucky’ – Tam McManus reacts to Rangers incident in St Johnstone clash: ‘Shocker’

Tam McManus has claimed that Rangers forward Kemar Roofe was “very lucky” to avoid a red card against St Johnstone on Wednesday.

The striker returned to the starting XI with Alfredo Morelos serving the first of his three-match ban for his incident against Hibernian.

Roofe was frustrated for the majority of the game, as he missed plenty of clear-cut chances at Ibrox in the opening 45 minutes, especially.

Writing on his personal Twitter account during the game, claiming that it should have been an early night for the Bears striker.

“Roofe very lucky to escape a red card after a shocker on Murray Davidson,” he wrote.

It wasn’t a great tackle, but the referee dealt with the matter on the pitch.

Roofe may overstep the mark, but Murray Davidson didn’t make a meal of it so it can’t have been as bad as many make out.

Looking at the footage, it is clear that the striker is attempting to place his body in between Davidson and the ball but just misjudges his footing.

Roofe was handed a yellow card, so there shouldn’t be any action taken after the game, but you never know with the SFA.

It would be no surprise to wake up to the SFA panel charging Roofe with violent conduct or whichever ruling they decide to use against the Bears.

Scott Brown was caught using his elbow against Kilmarnock on Tuesday, so we think that they have bigger things to worry about than an accidental challenge from Roofe.
