Gerrard delivers exciting Scott Wright update ahead of Rangers clash v St Johnstone
Steven Gerrard has said that new summer signing Scott Wright will train with Rangers on Tuesday and could go straight into the squad tomorrow.
Wright joined from Aberdeen on deadline after initially agreeing a pre-contract deal.
Gerrard delivered the exciting update in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday morning.
Gerrard also praised Jack Simpson, who joined from Bournemouth. The 24-year-old has Premier League experience and Gerrard said of him, “A left-sided centre-half who is comfortable in a position which fits with how we play. He is really excited to be here.”
No rest for Rangers
As Gerrard admitted in his press conference, it was a busy day and a late night for Rangers but they got some fantastic business done.
Gers have already moved head and shoulders ahead of Celtic, with a 23-point gap at the top having just played two more games.
And while Celtic lost Olivier Ntcham to Marseille, the first of a predicted exodus in the summer, Rangers added even more quality to their already impressive squad.
We’re excited to see Wright play for us and think he could well make the bench for the game against St Johnstone. He said he’s “buzzing” to play for the Gers and that he’s ready to take his game to the next level.
He’s match fit, having made 20 appearances already this season, and knows the Premiership inside out.
We could have forgiven Rangers if they’d taken their foot off the pedal in the January window, with pre-contract deals already done.
The fact they didn’t is fantastic news and very ominous for Celtic.
