Man City to beat Rangers to signing of highly coveted youngster
Manchester City are closing in on the signing of Rangers linked Rochdale winger Kwadwo Baah, according to The Sun.
Rangers were linked with a move for the highly-rated youngster this month by Athletic journalist Sam Lee.
However, it now looks like the 18-year-old is close to moving to the current Premier League leaders with Rangers missing out on a fine young player.
The Sun report on their live transfer blog, (Monday, 13:00), that Baah is close to being signed by Pep Guardiola’s side.
The plan is to then loan him back to Rochdale for the rest of the season to continue his development.
The Gers look set to miss out on a highly sought after talent but when a club like Manchester City comes knocking they are very hard to turn down.
There is the potential for there to be a busy deadline day at Ibrox but its seems as though the only incomings may already be contracted to Rangers.
It looks as if the club may try and turn the pre-contract agreements for Scott Wright and Jack Simpson into permanent deals so they can come to Ibrox this month.
It wouldn’t be the end of the world if these deals didn’t come off but it would no doubt be a boost to have extra cover for the rest of the season.
Wright would be able to come straight into the side having played regular Scottish Premiership football this season.
Simpson has played regular football in recent weeks too but it is hard to see the Bournemouth man displacing Connor Goldson or Filip Helander any time soon.
In other Rangers news, we have been dealt a blow in the hunt for a former player.
