‘Here for 55’ – Many Rangers fans thrilled as ex-PL player jets in for last-gasp Ibrox switch
Rangers fans are delighted to see footage of Bournemouth defender Jack Simpson arriving in Glasgow ahead of signing permanently for the Gers on deadline day.
Last week, the Premiership leaders already confirmed they would be signing Simpson, 24, at the end of the season after agreeing a pre-contract with the centre-back.
However, it seems that Simpson will be arriving at Ibrox earlier than originally planned with Sky Sports’ footage showing that he’s landed at Glasgow Airport.
It’s always thrilling to see a new player arrive at your club and after watching the clip of Simpson arriving in Scotland, some fans have found it difficult to contain their excitement.
One supporter claims Simpson is “here for 55“.Here is a selection of their tweets:
We’ll reserve judgement on Simpson until he’s played a fair bit because the centre-back has very limited experience in his career even though he’s 24-years-old.
Simpson has spent his entire career at Bournemouth except for a short loan spell at non-league side AFC Totton in the 2015/16 season. However, the Weymouth-born player has only ever made 35 senior appearances for the Cherries.
He does have Premier League experience with 11 top-flight appearances for Bournemouth before their relegation last season and has since earned nine outings in the Championship.
It might take a while to get him up to speed but as an extra option in the defence, it cannot be too bad a piece of business.
In other Rangers news, a player is set to sign a four-and-a-half-year deal with the Gers.
