‘Delighted’ – Ally McCoist blown away by ‘Excellent’ deadline day Rangers news
Ally McCoist has been blown away by Rangers in the January transfer window with their numerous signings at Ibrox.
The Bears legend admitted that Scott Wright and Jack Simpson will be “excellent” additions to Steven Gerrard’s squad, who continue to dominate the Scottish Premiership.
Both have signed on pre-contract deals this month, with Rangers set to seal a last-gasp permanent switch for Wright to arrive early.
Speaking on Sky Sports on Monday evening, McCoist was delighted with the business conducted by the Bears this month.
“I saw Scott Wright recently up at Aberdeen,” he said. “Good player, pacey, knows where the back of the net is.
“Equally, I’m happy with the signing of Jack Simpson as well. I know Ross Wilson, the sporting director had kept an eye on Jack for a period of time there, and I think they’ll both be excellent acquisitions to the club.
“The club is certainly in a great place at this moment in time moving forward. We’re delighted.”
Gerrard has improved the depth in his squad phenomenally in the past year, and it has helped his side progress massively as Celtic continue to struggle.
As well as Wright and Simpson arriving, the Bears have managed to ship out some of the deadwood in the squad too, with Brandon Barker set to move to Oxford.
With Alfredo Morelos banned for three games, Wright could make an immediate impact in the squad against St Johnstone, something Gerrard may have in mind.
