His performance against Celtic earlier this month highlights just how good he is.
First McGregor pulled off a brilliant double save to deny Odsonne Edouard before defying his age with a brilliant leap to tip Leigh Griffiths’ long-range effort onto the post.
We played poorly in that game and McGregor prevented us being 2-0 at half-time, in what was a crucial match.
His importance cannot be exaggerated, therefore, and it is not surprising that so many Bears are fawning over him.
Steven Gerrard has also remarked on McGregor’s significance, indicating that he was keen for the former Scotland international to sign a new deal.
