'Special player' - Club boss wowed by Rangers loanee after brilliant goal

Kai Kennedy has certainly made a bright start to life on loan at Raith Rovers and the 18-year-old is showing Rangers a glimpse into the future after scoring a stunner on Saturday.

In the wake of signing a contract extension at Ibrox until the summer of 2023 Kennedy headed out to join Raith Rovers on loan in the Championship.

He made quite the first impression after being voted as man of the match on his Rovers debut against Hearts on January 23.

He was brought back down to earth after Hearts delivered an instant humbling as they dismantled Rovers 4-0 in the reverse fixture just three days later.

However he netted a stunner in the 3-1 win over Dundee FC on Saturday for his first goal  and his boss John McGlynn told RaithTV on Youtube: “Kai’s goal…somebody like him, he is a bit of a special player.

“You can see when he came in and he just bent it away into the far corner. It was just a sign of a right top-class football player.”

Star in the making

It has only been three games but Kennedy looks to have firmly established himself in the Rovers first team ahead of their promotion push to the Premiership.

They leapfrogged Dundee FC on Saturday to soar to second in the Championship and they will be eyeing up a play-off place at the very least.

Kennedy has started all three games since his move and has completed two of them with the only exception being his 87th minute substitution on his debut against Hearts.

Here at Ibrox News we cannot wait to see what more Kennedy has to produce throughout the remainder of the current campaign.

Who knows, maybe he’ll be knocking on Steven Gerrard’s door in the summer if he keeps up his impressive start at Raith Rovers.

This is only the beginning of what looks to be a bright future in the game for Kennedy.
