‘What a waste’, ‘Shirt too big for him’ – These Bears tear into 26y/o who is ‘like Lafferty’

Rangers confirmed on Friday that Jordan Jones has left the club to join Sunderland on loan, and the news has been warmly received by some supporters.

The winger has not played since October, with Steven Gerrard freezing the player out after he breached Covid-19 protocols by going to a party.

Jones, 26, received a seven-match ban for his actions, and has not been involved in a matchday squad since.

George Edmundson, who also attended the party, has suffered the same fate.

An exit was always on the cards, though with more than two years remaining on his Rangers contract Jones’ long-term future is unknown.

To stay at Ibrox beyond the summer he will have to show that he has the right attitude and the ability to match while at Sunderland.

Some supporters think it is too late for Jones to prove himself, with suggestions that he has already blown his chance at Ibrox.

The 26-year-old’s departure reminded one fan of Kyle Lafferty, whose time at Rangers ended because of his poor attitude, and in thinking one match against Liverpool reserves was beneath him.

Jones has played just 19 games since arriving in the summer of 2019, which shows he was never regarded as an important player by Gerrard.

The signing of Scott Wright could see Jones drop down the pecking order further, too.

Here is how some Bears have been reacting to Jones joining Sunderland.

In other Rangers news, the club is in advanced talks to sign another new player according to a report.
