Ibrox View: McManus isn’t the only one who saw latest SFA Rangers decision coming

Tam McManus claims that he wasn’t surprised to see Rangers’ Alfredo Morelos charged with violent conduct following his actions against Hibs.

Morelos was charged by the SFA on Friday for a stamp on Ryan Porteous and the Colombian could miss the Gers’ next three games.

On Twitter, former Hibs man and pundit McManus claimed that he wasn’t surprised to see Morelos face punishment while Hibs’ Darren McGregor escaped a ban for his similar actions.

McManus tweeted, “This is what I thought would happen. No surprise”.

The thing is, everyone else saw this coming too.

As soon as the debate started over whether Morelos and McGregor would be charged, there was only ever going to be one outcome.

Of course Morelos gets a potential three-game ban, subject to an appeal, while the Hibs man gets off scot-free.

This is becoming boringly predictable.

There is very little difference between the two challenges and as Morelos has been charged it makes no sense that McGregor has managed to escape a similar fate.

There is no consistency from the SFA at all when it comes to these matters.

Morelos was retrospectively charged and banned with an elbow on Dundee United’s Mark Connelley earlier in the season for a challenge that you see every weekend in the Scottish Premiership.

We don’t think that there is an agenda against our striker, more likely he is the subject of harsh scrutiny because of his past actions.

Morelos isn’t the hothead he used to be but he is still a physical player, like many in the Premiership.

It is simply not fair that Morelos seemingly comes under harsher scrutiny than everyone else and this new incident makes it blinding obvious that this is indeed the case.

The SFA had a chance to show everyone that they are impartial in their rulings but the decision to only charge Morelos and not McGregor is simply baffling.

We hope Rangers appeal this charge and cite the decision to not award McGregor the same ban as evidence.

This turn of events is becoming boringly predictable and Rangers kicking up another fuss might convince the SFA to sort themselves out.

We aren’t getting our hopes up.

In other Rangers news, these Gers fans are furious about the SFA’s decision.
