‘Thank the lord’, ‘Our 7th choice’ – Many club fans react as Rangers agree deal for ‘deadwood’
Some Bournemouth fans are worryingly happy about Rangers signing defender Jack Simpson on a pre-contract deal.
The Cherries announced the deal on Thursday following recent reports that the Ibrox club were targeting Simpson and his teammate Nnamdi Ofoborh.
Simpson will move north of the border in the summer and plenty of Bournemouth fans have had their say on the future transfer.
Simpson, 24, had barely started in the Championship this season as he was occasionally brought on for the last few minutes of games.
However, due to a defensive injury crisis at the Vitality Stadium, the defender was handed six successive league starts over the festive period as he helped the Cherries keep four clean sheets in that run.
He has played no part in the club’s last two games however now that some of those injured players have returned.
Many Bournemouth fans have been left unimpressed with Simpson and some are happy to see the defender leave.
This is a cause for concern as it is usual to see fans unhappy at players leaving the club but quite the opposite is the case here.
One fan asked how he is meant to take Scottish football seriously when Rangers are signing a player who is ‘7th choice’ for the Cherries.
Others called Simpson ‘deadwood’ and another wanted the good news to keep coming after reading about the deal.
Not a good look for Rangers…
Here is how some Bournemouth fans reacted to Simpson’s transfer.
