‘He is close to agreeing’ – Club boss shares update on Rangers hunt for midfielder

Bournemouth boss Jason Tindall believes that Nnamdi Ofoborh will follow Jack Simpson to Rangers following the announcement of his pre-contract deal.

The Cherries announced on Thursday that a deal had been agreed between the Gers and Simpson following reported interest in both the defender and Ofoborh over the past few weeks.

Speaking to the Bournemouth Daily Echo, Tindall explained that he has spoken to Ofoborh and he expects the midfielder to leave the Vitality Stadium.

When asked if he thought Ofoborh would follow Simpson to Ibrox, Tindall said, “I think so. The conversations I’ve had with Nnamdi, I think they are down the line on that one.

“I know it’s a club I think he would want to go and play for. It’s not as far down the line as what Jack is, but I think he is close to agreeing things to also go to Rangers.”

If a deal is agreed this month it will be the third pre-contract signing the Gers have secured in January following the capture of Simpson and Scott Wright from Aberdeen.

Rangers

Assuming none of these deals are pushed through and turned into permanent transfers this month, Rangers will be heavily boosted by these arrivals in the summer.

Perhaps the club are already planning for the burden of playing Champions League football next season with the Scottish Premiership title all but wrapped up.

If the club wants to fight to defend their title and make a good fist of the Champions League then they will need a decent squad with plenty of strength and depth.

There could also be an element of planning for the future in terms of potential Ibrox departures.

There is bound to be interest in some of our star men this summer and it will be a fight to keep hold of them.

We have already floated the idea of Ofoborh being a Glen Kamara replacement and while we hope this isn’t the case, it does make sense to plan for every eventuality.

Let’s see if Ofoborh is brought in before the transfer deadline.
