‘Never stop’ – Exclusive: Alex McLeish praises Rangers work behind-the-scenes in January
We’re delighted to welcome former Rangers manager Alex McLeish as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…
Alex McLeish has claimed that Rangers recruitment team will be working non-stop despite the lack of transfer activity this month.
The Bears have completed the signing of Scott Wright but will have to wait until the summer to bring in the Aberdeen playmaker.
McLeish claimed that the success at Ibrox will lead to outside interest in key players, which is something the recruitment team will need to prepare possible replacements for.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, McLeish said, “If someone was to go then, of course, the recruitment guys never stop.
“They should never stop working. In terms of them looking at recruitment because its one of the most important things in football.
“Recruitment guys are now worth their weight in gold and then some, because I still see it all over the country that teams don’t quite get that right.”
Two more pre-contract deals?
It has been made no secret that Bournemouth duo Jack Simpson and Nnamdi Ofoborh, with both potentially available on more pre-contract deals.
Bournemouth boss Jason Tindall has recently admitted that Steven Gerrard has been in contract to confirm his interest, although the Championship club can’t do much to prevent the Gers from swooping in.
The main worries have been around losing the likes of Glen Kamara, with the Finland international gaining serious interest from the Premier League.
Gerrard has lined up players in nearly every area of the pitch, and it is refreshing to see that we are preparing for the future, regardless of what happens.
