‘Showed his worth’ – Derek Ferguson awestruck by ‘Excellent’ Rangers ace v Ross County

Derek Ferguson has claimed that Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack “showed his worth” in his return in the 5-0 win over Ross County.

It was his first outing since the 4-0 win over Aberdeen back in November after picking up an injury that had kept him sidelined.

Steven Gerrard was delighted to welcome the 28-year-old back, with the important trip to Hibernian coming up on Wednesday.

Speaking on the Blues Brothers Podcast, Ferguson showered the returning midfielder in praise for his instant impact on the pitch.

“He showed his worth to the team,” he said.

“Not just the team, the squad. He’s an experienced campaigner, he’s a leader and his performance just capped it all off, getting a goal as well.

“It was a real team goal, even the finish, what composure. Sometimes people panic, lovely composure – he’s an excellent player.”

Rangers

It was vital that Rangers welcomed back their key players this month.

Jack came on for 29 minutes, and despite scoring, his grit and determination in midfield is what has been missing in those tough moments.

Ferguson has previously mentioned the importance of Jack, and he instantly proved that.

Gerrard is only Scott Arfield away from having the complete midfield package back at Ibrox, and that should come in the next fortnight.

With tough games against the likes of Hibs, and the Europa League also quick to return, Jack will be crucial in these tough months.
