Rangers loanee had one training session in two weeks before MOTM performance, makes TOTW

Rangers loanee Kai Kennedy has been named in the SFPL team of the week after his incredible individual performance in Raith Rovers’ win over Hearts.

The 18-year-old ran the show for Rovers and he played a huge role in the 3-2 win at the weekend.

This is a fantastic accolade for the young man on its own but the reasoning for the selection should have every Gers fan impressed.

Craig Fowler from A View from the Terrace, who selected this week’s picks, highlighted what made Kennedy’s brilliant performance even more impressive.

He said, “The on-loan Rangers attacker tormented the Hearts defence and was a massive factor in his team managing to score three goals at Tynecastle despite training only once in the two weeks leading up to the match due to Covid-19 issues.”

So Kennedy only had one training session in the previous two weeks before the Hearts game and he still managed to turn in a top-class performance.

Rangers

This begs the question, what will he be like when he is properly up to speed?

Kennedy is one of the brightest young stars at Ibrox and he has a huge chance to stake a claim for a first-team place at Rangers for next season with a convincing performance in the season half of the current campaign.

There is a reason that Manchester City and Bayern Munich were reportedly interested in signing Kennedy when it looked like he may leave Rangers on a free.

This small insight into Kennedy’s talent and midset shows that he has the ability to back up the interest.

We are all excited to see how the attacker will progress over the next weeks and months.

Once he has trained properly with his new side he should get even better and he will be able to show Steven Gerrard and Co exactly what he is made of.

We can’t wait to see what he does next.
