‘He is one we are pushing’ – Gerrard wowed about future of Gers 22y/o amid Auchenhowie reveal

Steven Gerrard has heaped praise on 22-year-old Rangers attacker Ianis Hagi and said he’s “excited” for what’s to come.

Talking in his pre-match press conference Gerrard said, “We are really happy with Hagi, he is a student of the game and someone you have to drag off the training pitch.

“He is always in the gym or in with the analysis. He is one we are pushing as we are excited there is still more to come.”

Hagi has made 14 starts in the Premiership this season and has scored three goals and added nine assists.

Brilliant attitude will take Hagi to the top

Hagi was a model of inconsistency when he joined but is really starting to push on at Rangers.

We’ve got no doubt that there’s a real player in there and he’s still only 22.

The fact that he’s the last player on the pitch at Auchenhowie, always in the gym and interested in analysis is the sign of a spot-on attitude that could take him to the top.

Too many players take their jobs for granted and don’t push to get the extra 1% or 2% from their game.

If Hagi can push on and reach the heights he’s shown he can consistently, then we’ll have some player on our hands. At just £3m he could well turn out to be yet another bargain signing.

Gerrard’s comments also hint that Hagi is set for another start against Hibs tomorrow after contributing an assist in the 5-0 demolition job on Ross County.
