Rangers have announced the signing of Scott Wright on a pre-contract deal but some fans are demanding the Aberdeen star joins in January.
Steven Gerrard’s interest in Wright has been no secret after Dons boss Derek McInnes revealed he had spoken to him regarding a move.
The 23-year-old’s contract at Pittodrie runs out in June and he has therefore been able to speak to other clubs about a summer move when he will be a free agent.
On Monday morning Rangers confirmed that they had signed Wright on their official Twitter page and on their website the club’s sporting director Ross Wilson lavished praise on him.
Wilson said: “We look forward to Scott joining Rangers and we are excited to see him continue to develop his talent working with Steven and all of our staff. Scott fits our football identity and our plan for the development of our squad.”
However there was no mention of whether Wright will join in January, something Gerrard wanted to see happen.
Evidently it is something some Rangers fans are keen to see happen as well, despite the Light Blues sitting at the top of the Scottish Premiership 23 points ahead of nearest challengers Celtic.
While the Gers squad looks in great shape with the recent return from injury of key figures like Kemar Roofe and Ryan Jack it seems that Gerrard can never have too many quality options.
