‘So much potential’ – Former teammate raves over reported Rangers signing
Wycombe defender Jack Grimmer has hailed Rangers’ capture of Nnamdi Ofoborh with the Gers reportedly agreeing a pre-contract deal with the midfielder.
Grimmer and Ofoborh played together at Wycombe last season as the Chairboys secured promotion to the Championship.
The defender has nothing but praise for his former teammate as he compared Ofobroh’s playing style to an Ibrox favourite.
Grimmer told The Daily Record, “He’s got so much potential. That’s why a club of the stature of Rangers were keen.
“In terms of a comparison for Rangers fans, Glen Kamara can drift and pass and get around the pitch, he has that calmness.
“Nnamdi is like that. He can glide past people and also find that zipped pass, he’s got a lot of range.”
It is unknown if Ofoborh will arrive at Ibrox his month as the club looks to engineer a deal that would see the 21-year-old move north of the border before the January transfer window shuts.
New arrivals would provide a boost for the Gers going into the second half of the season with the club looking to wrap up the league title and progress in Europe.
Comparisons to a talented player like Kamara can only be a good thing with the Finland international really stepping up this season and proving to be one of Steven Gerrard’s most important players.
However, this transfer raises a question over the future of the Rangers midfielder.
Are Rangers trying to sort out a replacement for Kamara because it is looking likely that he will leave Ibrox in the summer?
It would make sense for the club to do this as Kamara continues to be linked with a Premier League switch.
Of course, we all hope Kamara doesn’t leave but if he does go in the summer it looks like his replacement may already be sorted out.
