Rangers have announced on Monday evening that Nathan Patterson has signed a new long-term contract at Ibrox.

Despite having two years left on his previous deal, the Bears talent has added another couple of years meaning that he will remain in Glasgow until 2024.

The 19-year-old has progressed to Scotland’s under-21s squad and has cemented his place as James Tavernier’s’ understudy.

The Rangers boss claimed that he has been delighted with his willingness to learn from the likes of Tavernier, admitting that he has relayed his expectations.

Patterson burst on to the scene at the start of last year in the Scottish Cup against Stranraer and has continued to feature here and there.

The 19-year-old came on to replace Tavernier against Ross County in the 5-0 win on Saturday and has made it the perfect week with this new deal.

Calvin Bassey is also starting to make a name for himself in Glasgow, with the Bears having two amazing talents on their books for the long term.
