Better than Tav – Ibrox View: Rangers ace ’emulating the greats’ shines once again v Ross County
Rangers are cruising towards the Scottish Premiership title and continued that form with an incredible 5-0 win against Ross County.
Steven Gerrard will have been delighted with the performance, with five different scorers as the gap was extended to 23 points.
There was one negative, and that was James Tavernier missing yet another penalty in the first half at Ibrox.
While Tavernier continued his struggles, Borna Barisic was phenomenal once again.
The Croatian international delivered two perfect assists for the goals scored by Filip Helander and Conor Goldson.
Not only that, he could have had more with the Bears full-back putting in perfect delivery time and time again from set-pieces.
The 28-year-old completed seven key passes according to WhoScored, the most of any player on the pitch, and more than the entire Ross County side managed.
Tavernier also picked up an assist, but that was his first goal involvement in eight games for the Bears as he starts to slow down – he’s missed two penalties in that time.
Barisic, on the other hand, is continuing to get better and better – something that Gerrard will be delighted with.
It was the second consecutive game in which Barisic has delivered an assist, and backs up recent praise from Alex McLeish.
The exclusive Ibrox News pundit claimed the defender was “emulating the greats”, as he made yet another statement with his latest display.
Barisic is outperforming Tavernier with his recent displays, and as we all know, not many can say they have done that to the Bears skipper in years gone by.
