‘He’s the new Messi’, ‘Kent’s replacement’ – Some Rangers fans awestruck by young ace
Rangers fans were delighted with Kai Kennedy’s performance on Saturday as he broke hearts – almost literally – while playing on loan at Raith Rovers.
Kennedy, 18, was handed his debut for the Championship club ahead of their clash against Hearts at Tynecastle and wasted no time in making a good first impression in John McGlynn’s side.
The Gers youngster won a penalty and assisted another goal as Raith won 3-2 against the Championship leaders to stake their own claim for promotion to the Premiership.
Kennedy had Hearts defenders on strings throughout the match, turning them inside out and providing chances for his fellow attackers.
Hearts were ever so kind to upload highlights of Kennedy tearing them apart on their official Twitter account on Sunday morning.
PA journalist Andy Newport retweeted the clip and suggested that Rangers fans should be excited by the talent that Kennedy showcased in Raith’s win at Tynecastle on Saturday.
And based on the reaction from a number of Gers fans, that’s definitely the case with one supporter even suggesting he’s the “new Messi“.
Here is a selection of their tweets:

Kennedy is someone who we’re really excited about.
We seemed as though we might have lost him last year when he entered the final 12 months of his contract but the Gers have managed to get the dazzling youngster tied down to a new deal now.
Kennedy is one match into his loan spell at Raith Rovers and is already impressing against the strongest team in the Championship.
It makes you think that next season he could be good enough to play for a top-flight team on loan or, even better, earn a spot in Rangers’ first-team squad.
Based on the lack of strength in depth out wide, that could be a good option for the Premiership leaders.
In other Rangers news, fans have blasted this 28-year-old who they want to be gone from Ibrox in the summer.
