‘Priority’ – Exclusive: Rangers ‘Inspiration’ will hand Bears huge boost in charge towards 55
We’re delighted to welcome former Rangers manager Alex McLeish as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…
Alex McLeish has claimed that the return of Rangers forward Kemar Roofe will have been made a priority at Ibrox this month.
Steven Gerrard confirmed on Friday that the striker is back in training and set to be in contention against Ross County on Saturday afternoon.
McLeish believes that Roofe has been an “inspiration” and has played a massive role in the Gers charging towards title number 55 this season.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, McLeish said, “I’m sure the Rangers medical team have been working on him every day and making that a priority to get this guy back.
“He’s been such a boost to Rangers in the first half of the season. Now, going into the business stage of the season when prizes are won and they need every player available.
“Roofe has been an inspiration this season, he was a good buy, but he has made a fantastic contribution to Rangers’ march to this 55th title.”
There is no doubting the difference that Roofe has made.
Before this season, there has been an over-reliance on Alfredo Morelos, but Roofe has since arrived and taken over the reins at Ibrox.
The 28-year-old will be eager to return from his injury, with the Golden Boot a real possibility in his first season in the Scottish Premiership.
We can’t think of many better first seasons in Glasgow than lifting 55, and also the Golden Boot – the first part is almost done, can Roofe complete the double?
