‘Brilliant’, ‘So much fun’ – Some Bears buzzing as Chris Sutton breaks silence on Lennon latest
Chris Sutton has been very, very quiet recently as Rangers have turned the tables in Scotland.
Normally one of the loudest pundits in Scotland, Sutton has been silent since the latest slip from Celtic saw them drop another two points against Livingston.
Manager Neil Lennon dug his own hole even deeper post-match with a defence of Dubai and a contradiction of the Lawwell apology from the week before.
Even Livingston got in on the act with a brilliantly savage takedown of Celtic’s disastrous season.
However, Sutton has finally broken cover in his latest column for the Daily Record.
In it, he admitted that he was good friends with Lennon and that he found it hard to criticise him.
He did manage to say that Lennon was wrong about Dubai. And he defended Lennon’s right to cling on at Celtic, saying it was the club’s choice whether he should stay or go.
Sutton also said that Lennon was probably staying as the club didn’t trust John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan to run things if he went.
Rangers fans are loving it and let’s make it clear – we’re very happy to see Lennon stay at Parkhead.
However, one Gers fan did say it was “pathetic” and that Sutton would have ripped Steven Gerrard to shreds if he’d done what Lennon has at Rangers.
That’s true but the overall sentiment from Rangers fans to the column is delight. Delight at the predicament Celtic and Lennon have got themselves in, and delight at the tone of Sutton’s writing.

In other Rangers news, Gerrard could make three changes for the clash with Ross County on Saturday.
