Report: Rangers set to make ‘offer that cannot be refused’ for 21y/o attacker
Rangers are preparing to make an offer for Anderlecht winger Francis Amuzu, according to Belgian outlet Voetbal24.
The report suggests the Gers will make the Belgian club an ‘offer that cannot be refused” for the striker.
Amuzu has been linked to Nottingham Forest this month and is highly rated by manager Vincent Kompany.
The former Manchester City praised the Belgium 21-year-old international previously saying, “I think Francis can teach our team a lot.
“I know that there is no unanimity about that boy, but as a trainer I will stay calm with that.
“Francis is making progress and always offers something. The competition will only make him better.”
Hidden gem
There is a lot to like about Amuzu’s style of play even if he has lacked efficiency in the final third.
A return of one goal and one assist in 17 games show there is plenty for Steven Gerrard to work on, but the youngster could still prove an astute purchase.
To earn praise from an accomplished player such as Kompany means he must have something about him.
And a look at his stats on WyScout shows he has plenty to offer, both on and off the ball.
His pace and direct style unsettles defences, and has allowed him to average 3.7 successful dribbles per game in 2020/21.
Added to that, it is essential to his style of harrying defenders when out of possession.
That has led him to make 2.3 interceptions while making 1.5 recoveries in the opposition half per 90mins.
Amuzu clearly possesses great determination and an energy to match, which means he would likely do everything he can to take the place of Ryan Kent or Kemar Roofe.
It is essential for players to have that mindset if we are to continue to improve under Stevie G.
The Ghanaian has also won 50% of his duels this term, which equates to ten per match, and that aspect of his game highlights his battling nature.
If he does sign Gerrard may be able to improve his areas of weakness, and could end up uncovering a gem.
In other Rangers news, the club has made an approach to an English club to sign two players.
