‘Come home’, ‘Imagine the scenes’ – Some fans want Rangers to re-sign ex-Ibrox midfielder
Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to urge Steven Gerrard to re-sign Billy Gilmour from Chelsea with the London club struggling in the Premier League.
Gilmour, 19, moved to Chelsea in May 2017 with Rangers pocketing a fee starting at £500,000 for the talented young midfielder.
Frank Lampard has slowly started to introduce the former Gers academy star into the Chelsea first-team but he’s only played twice as a sub in the Premier League this season despite recovering from a knee injury in early December.
He’s been an unused substitute in six of Chelsea’s last seven league games with the London club winning just twice and dropping down to eighth place – below West Ham.
With Champions League football looking far more likely at Ibrox next season that it is at Stamford Bridge, a number of Gers fans have taken to Twitter to say they’d want the Glasgow giants to re-sign Gilmour.
One has urged the teenage ace to “come home“.
Here is a selection of their tweets:

We can dream and tweet as much as we want but the chances of Gilmour coming back to Ibrox are very, very low.
He was linked with a loan move to Rangers this month with the Scottish Sun reporting in January that Steven Gerrard is keen on the young midfielder.
Jim White, however, later added Chelsea have no plans to loan Gilmour out as he’s a “big part” of Lampard’s plans in West London.
Based on his game-time since, that doesn’t seem to be the case.
In other Rangers news, this BBC SportsceWhne pundit was raving about this “fantastic” Ibrox ace after the draw at Motherwell.
