‘What have you done?’, ‘Delete this’ – Some Rangers fans confused by ‘Bizarre’ club announcement

Some Rangers fans are not happy with their club following the announcement of a partnership between the Ibrox side and video game Fortnite.

The announcement was made on Tuesday afternoon with the Gers one of several football teams who are a part of this new partnership.

Fortnite is a battle royale last man standing style video game and it is one of the most played games in the world, hitting 350 million players in May 2020, as per Statista.

From January 24 players will be able to don the kits of some of the biggest football clubs in the world with Rangers, Manchester City and Juventus all signed up.

Celtic will also be a part of the game as both Scottish Premiership clubs have taken the opportunity to try and grow their global brand.

There is no doubting that many people may hear of Rangers for the first time through this game and that is probably the aim behind the partnership.

It is fair to say that there has been a mixed reaction to Tuesday’s announcement with many Gers fans voicing their opinions on the club’s latest marketing move.

Some fans are unimpressed with the announcement with some expressing shock and even embarrassment.

Though one fan did point out the boost this may bring to the Gers’ worldwide appeal as younger football fans may hear of Rangers for the first time through the game.
