Tam McManus cites Parkhead ‘implosion’ as Lennon makes big Gers admission & bizarre Dubai claim

Tam McManus has criticised Neil Lennon’s disastrous recent press conference and said that there’s an ‘implosion’ at Parkhead unfolding that Celtic fans are having to watch.

Lennon contradicted Celtic chief Peter Lawwell and refused to apologise for his club’s ill-fated trip to Dubai, saying that they had done nothing wrong.

Talking after the weekend’s games Lennon said, “There was nothing wrong with the photographs and by the way, it’s illegal to take photos without someone’s consent.

“But we weren’t hiding. anything, we weren’t up to anything. We were there on our day off. This has been a stick to beat us with, these photographs.

“There seems to be some sort of agenda being driven here. We’ve come back we’ve been absolutely decimated by these rules. It seems political. Our protocols were perfect.”

Lennon also made the first big title admission saying, “Maybe the title is beyond us but we won’t stop trying.”

Rangers

Talking on PLZ, former BBC pundit Tam McManus said, “You can tell he’s really angry… but the bottom line is they shouldn’t have went. And they went after just losing an Old Firm game.

“If they’d won that game no one would have batted an eyelid but they didn’t, and if they wanted a drink they should have had it in-house, kept it in the hotel.

“I’ve got no problem with players having a drink but it’s not a good look when they’ve just lost to Rangers.

“I thought he contradicted what Peter Lawwell said last Wednesday. He was saying that Celtic shouldn’t be apologising for anything, whereas Peter Lawwell said they shouldn’t have went and apologised to supporters. Who’s right and who’s wrong?

“It’s a bit of an implosion at Parkhead at the moment, and the fans are watching it unfold.”

Club in disarray

It takes a brave or a stupid man to come back from that trip to Dubai, having already misjudged the room, and double down on it.

Fans aren’t happy, the government’s not happy, and Peter Lawwell ultimately wasn’t happy.

This puts Lennon on a collision course with just about everyone which is surely the last thing Celtic need at the moment.

Lennon did at least say one sensible thing when he finally admitted that the title race is beyond Celtic.

However, it seems that being a united club is also beyond Celtic at the moment and major changes surely have to be made in the summer.
