Stiliyan Petrov claims ‘ruthless Rangers’ will force Celtic to axe Lennon
Former Celtic defender Stiliyan Petrov has claimed that ‘ruthless Rangers’ will force Celtic to sack Neil Lennon.
Lennon is under mounting pressure at Parkhead and on Monday he came out with some bizarre quotes in a press conference as he attacked the media for their recent criticism of the club.
Hoops favourite Petrov has claimed that Rangers have better characters, leaders and people than Celtic and this will force the club to let Lennon go.
Petrov is quoted by The Scottish Sun as saying, “I think a new manager has to come in with his staff.
“Celtic still try to play the football that we’ve seen under Brendan Rodgers, nice slick football with a lot of possession. But now we’ve seen a ruthless Rangers.
“They will go and stop you playing. They will have better characters, better leaders, people who will stop you winning again. I was in a dressing room when that happened in 2000 when Martin O’Neill replaced John Barnes. The change was needed.”
This is a big claim from Petrov as Barnes is widely regarded as one of the worst managerial appointments that Celtic have ever made.
It does seem as though things are going wrong on the other side of Glasgow as Celtic look like a club that needs a shake-up from top to bottom.
The players aren’t very good, the manager has seemingly lost all control, the board are doing nothing and the fans are furious.
Don’t get us wrong it is great to witness.
But you can’t help but feel that Steven Gerrard’s men are partly responsible for this.
We have been almost perfect this season and Celtic just can’t keep up which has led to the discontent and outrage from the fan base.
As well as the Gers winning the league this season, we could also see our Old Firm rivals fall away even further as we cement our place as the best team in Scotland once again.
In other Rangers news, Simon Jordan has savaged Celtic following a recent development.
