‘I love…’ – Pundit: Rangers missing ‘Top-drawer’ duo after 1-1 draw v Motherwell

Derek Ferguson believes that Rangers are desperately missing midfield pair Ryan Jack and Scott Arfield in the Scottish Premiership.

Both picked up injuries over the Christmas period, leaving Steven Gerrard with Glen Kamara and Steven Davis as his only real options.

Ferguson claims that the experience of Jack and the running power of Arfield will make the Bears even stronger despite their incredible unbeaten run.

Speaking on the Blues Brothers podcast on Monday, Ferguson was showering praise on the missing midfield duo.

“Did we miss Ryan Jack? I think absolutely,” he said.

“That tenacity, that little bit of steel in the middle of the park, and he’s an experienced player, and he’s one of these players who just get better with age.

“Arfield, I think we’re missing him as well. I love Arfield. When he comes in, he’s absolutely top-drawer.”

Gerrard would have loved to have had this duo available for rotation over the busy Christmas period, strength-in-depth is key.

Jack is back in training and should be available for the upcoming clash against Ross County on Saturday afternoon at Ibrox.

There aren’t many hints on the fitness of Arfield, though.

The Canadian has been superb since breaking into the side this season, scoring four goals and delivering five assists in crucial games.

Gerrard will be counting down the days until these two are back in the starting XI again, with the struggles against Motherwell clear that they are desperately needed.
