Jordan Campbell names key player Rangers missed in 1-1 draw v M’well

The Athletic’s Jordan Campbell has highlighted Kemar Roofe as a player that Rangers missed during the 1-1 draw with Motherwell.

The league leaders were far from their best at Fir Park and were visibly struggling in the final third.

Responding to supporters on The Athletic after the full-time whistle, Campbell said: “Roofe offers that striker’s instinct whereas Hagi is about looking for the final ball. His touch was erratic today and he never got into the game. Roofe’s movement could have perhaps made more of some of the crossing opportunities they had.”

Neither Ryan Kent nor Ianis Hagi managed to make much of an impact on the game and as a result, Steven Gerrard’s men struggled to a draw on the road.

Against Motherwell, Hagi touched the ball just 32 times and had a lowly pass success rate of just 68 per cent before being hooked for Cedric Itten.

Morelos missing Roofe in attack

With both Roofe and Hagi struggling on Sunday, Campbell was right to highlight the absence of the former Leeds man.

However, what was noticeable was the lack of service and support to Alfredo Morelos in general.

The Colombian looked lively from the first minute and he certainly appeared to be up for a battle.

However, the midfield trio of Glen Kamara, Steven Davis and Joe Aribo could only provide two key passes between them against Motherwell, as per WhoScored.

Borna Barisic registered five key passes for the Gers against Motherwell, but they were far too reliant on his crossing ability and if it was not for the left-back’s quality, they may have lost their unbeaten record this season.
