‘No brainer’ – Pundit: Rangers will welcome key signing to Ibrox in January
Charlie Adam has claimed that Rangers will sign Aberdeen forward Scott Wright in the January window this month.
Steven Gerrard admitted on Friday that a deal to sign the Dons attacker is “extremely close” but claimed it would be a bonus to sign him this month.
Ross McCrorie looks set to go the other way, but as it stands, the Gers will have to wait for his contract to run out before moving to Ibrox at the end of the season.
Speaking on PLZ Soccer’s The Football Show, Adam claimed that it will be a “no-brainer” for the Bears to complete this deal.
“He’s a young player, very quick, he’s done well enough to get an opportunity at Aberdeen this season,”
“It’s another young one that Rangers will be looking to hopefully kick on again. It’s a no-brainer, it’s a free contract, it won’t be big wages. It’s a good signing, they’re trying to do their business early for next season.
“I think if they can get it over the line early, which they probably will do, it gives them another body for the rest of the season – it’s a good piece of business.”
There is no doubting that this deal will be completed, it’s just a matter of when.
Gerrard will be desperate to get Wright through the door this month, and integrate him into the Bears squad while they are flying towards the title – there will be no better dressing room in Europe right now.
It just all depends on whether or not Aberdeen will play ball, and based on Adam’s confidence, it appears as though they may do just that.
Wright has only scored twice and delivered a single assist, but he has shown bags of potential in the final third.
The ability to play anywhere across the front three will be crucial to any of his success at Ibrox, and hopefully, that happens this month.
