Athletic journalist: Rangers ‘extremely close’ to sealing major transfer
Athletic journalist Jordan Campbell has relayed news from Steven Gerrard that a deal for Rangers to sign Scott Wright from Aberdeen on a pre-contract is “extremely close”.
Gerrard also said that it would be a “bonus” if he could be signed in this window.
There has been talk of a Rangers player going to Aberdeen as part of the deal or the permanent Ross McCrorie move being accelerated.
Gerrard didn’t rule out either of these things happening.
The Wright move
There’s been so much talk about Wright moving that it would make sense if both clubs came to an agreement to make it happen in January.
The same thing happened with Glen Kamara when Rangers ended up signing the star for a nominal fee of £50,000.
That looks like one of the deals of the decade but the truth is that he was moving to Rangers for free the following summer.
Wright will be a great signing for Rangers and it looks like it is going to happen.
We’re sure that Wright would love to accelerate the move and be a part of what’s set up to be a historic run-in for Rangers.
Number 55 is probably only a month away from being confirmed and spending the second half of the season with Rangers will also give Wright the chance to bed into the club before a full pre-season in the summer.
We hope that Gerrard gets his “bonus”.
